Within the few months Makama Garba Tukur fsi has been the District  Head of Bakori, Katsina State, He has already touched the lives of thousands across the District in so many different ways, particularly education and social welfare, healthcare, security, skills acquisition, agriculture, public enlightenment and overall socio-economic development.

It has been his tradition since time immemorial to assist the less privileged which include orphans, widows, the physically challenged, Internally Displaced Persons and indigent households. 

This Ramadan, he has opened so many feeding points in each ward of the District, where the less privileged families go to collect nutritious meals to be supplied throughout the Holy month of Ramadan.

This gesture has spurred his traditional council members and many wealthy individuals in Bakori District of the Local Government Area to emulate him, by also donating food items and other consumables to cushion the effect of inflation on their people, during the Ramadan period. 

At present, many such privileged individuals in the  District are craving to also feed the less privileged during this blessed month.

In a related development, every resident of Kurami and passersby that have journeyed through Kurami, can now see it wearing a new look because of a new ultra modern mosque building, with a capacity of over one thousand worshippers at Kurami town. 

The foundation stone was laid over ten years ago by some philanthropists in Bakori Local Government Area, and finally been completed and commissioned on Friday the 2nd March 2024 by non other than Makama Garba Tukur fsi.

His tenacity in ensuring that the multi-faceted development and transformation is brought to all wards within Bakori District, led to the successful completion of the mosque. 

Now the people of Kurami are very happy that the project has been completed, which is the first of its kind in the town.

Similarly, Makama Garba Tukur's passion for education was evident during the Golden Jubilee (Fifty Years Anniversary) celebration of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Bakori, which he graced alongside his ward heads, council  members of “who is who” to demonstrate to the people the value he attaches to education.

The school was established in 1974 as a unity school with the primary aim of fostering a spirit of oneness and unity among Nigerian students. 

In the course of fifty years, the school has trained thousands of girls that have gone ahead to take various roles within the Nigerian society.

The school which is located about five kilometers away from Bakori town, was agog with guests and dignitaries that include Old Girls of the school from different parts of the country to attend the event, which was held on Saturday, 3rd of March, 2024.

Makama Garba Tukur and his entourage of traditional council members added colour to the occasion. It was indeed a memorable outing that will continue to linger in the minds of the FGGC Bakori family; and its impact will be felt in terms of the importance Makama Garba Tukur, as the traditional head of Bakori District, attaches to education, in line with his persistent calls on parents to enroll their children in school most especially the girls.
